As a group, POUBELLE was selected for a two-week residency at ArToll Kunstlabor, located in the forests near Kleve. Local residents brought objects and materials, which the 10 artists, all part of POUBELLE — used to create sculptures and installations.
On the final day, they presented everything they had made within the workspaces themselves. The building is large, old, and filled with light, set among trees on the grounds of a former psychiatric clinic. Much of the site is overgrown and in decay. It is a sheltered place for birds, insects, and hares. Time seems to slow down here, making it an ideal environment for research and experimentation.
Works created during the residency: Garden Sculptures – temporary installations made from tubes, No Door – plywood slats stuck in doorframe, Mac and Stilt – computer and wooden stilt, Brooms and Rakes – donated garden tools, Cabinet – found object and wood, Crate – found object and plywood slats.
