un box

The work of Mirjam Berloth explores the possibilities of found and leftover materials. In her practice, experimentation, reuse, and the physical properties of materials play a central role. For this exhibition, Berloth uses residual materials from the POUBELLE project Show Me Your Waste, which she reorganizes and brings together in a spatial installation. Metal pipes, in particular, recur frequently in her work. In combination with other materials, they form a rhythmic structure in which weight, balance, and texture become visible. By removing materials from their original context and recombining them, they acquire a different function and meaning. Berloth’s working method is investigative and precise, yet also leaves room for chance and play. Her work connects to ideas from modern art history, in which abstraction, material, and space are employed to reflect on how art relates to the world.
