Schoonhoven without Shadows 2017
Jan Schoonhovens’ famous grid works filled up with paint to make them look softer.
Schoonhovens’ smaller works are on display in Museum Den Haag. I am very fond of them. Yet I wanted to fill up the cardboard squares with paint to find out how the works would look without the hard edges. After pouring many layers of paint all definition had gone but after the works were completely dry the grid showed again.
